Ross Gilmore Marvin, born in Elmira in 1880. Graduate of Cornell University '05, a member of the Peary Polar expedition, who drowned (that's the nice version of what happened) in the Arctic in 1909. Two Eskimos confessed to a whole different story in 1926.
